Buying some one else's project??

Found a jeep in (dville) Georgia... It's a 1981 cj7. http://images.craigslist.org/3K23F63I95Lf5N95Mdd1c030d2dcd1b3d1738.jpg

That's the link let me know if it don't work.
What should I look out for and does anyone know about this jeep the owner is hard to get an answer out of and looking for good advice before I buy.

You got a shop to work on it?  Looks like it was used hard and put away wet.

No I have a 2 car garage for motor and axel work everything else will be done outside under a lean2 if its raining

A lot depends on price. 500.00 and it's a good deal, 5000.00 means you're getting screwed. What axles, transfer case?

Its hard to say with this pic.I would have to look it over to let you know what I see has been done and what you may want to do.Is it around us? Looks like the rims have no back spacing.Did thay replace the axles in the rearend AMC 20 has a 2 piece axle.Dose it have the electronic carb ?

A $5000 rig can need $15000 worth of work
And if you dont go through it all
You dont know what you have
And a newpart can fail everytime you go out.

Like Doug said you could be like me putting lots of money in it or it could be good you just have to look it over really good. See if it is already set up the way you want or what you will have to do to get it where you will like it.If you look at my thread on Casper you will get a idea of what I have done so far and I'm right at $15,000.00 with out rebuilding the motor or trany yet. That's just for parts no labor cost.

Original transfer case and it has Chevy 1Ton axels
