WTT 2 blistein 5150 14" travel shocks for shorter ones
« on: November 09, 2013, 10:38:01 AM »
I have 2 5125 series Bilsteins in good condition, brand new until I started coming out to GATR rides this year. They are 14 in travel, looking to trade for some 12" or maybe 10"

Here is a pic on the rig, I have them off now if anyone needs measurements.

Oh yea, they are bushings on both ends, not a stud on one end

Doesn't look like I can delete the thread but change of plans. No need to trade anymore so I will move these over to the parts for sale section and get better pics.

How did you measure for your rear shocks? I'm getting some hoops bent up and I'm trying to figure out how I should determine the length I need without just installing the hoops, then measuring.

I measured for them when I was building the bed some I knew how much room I had to work with. I should have ordered shorter ones than I did bc I could have had a little more up travel. Basically I had to estimate based on what I thought my ride height was going to be.

I have some universal shock hoops that I will be cutting off the front off my truck soon. I can get some measurements for them if you want. I will sell them for $20, cheaper than buying and bending up new ones, just need to make some custom mounts. They are tube style with tabs for the mounting bolts. Basically a tube bent into a 180.

That's the same exact thing I'm building now ha.

I'm using little kickers off my unibody so that I can attach the hoop to that. Probably should brace mine somehow... Did you?

I wish I would have known you were going to sell the hoops and week ago, I would have jumped on them!

Yea definitely brace them, both tubes on the back side somewhere at a 45 deg angle or so. I didn't do that the first time and had one hoop tear off the frame ( welds just tore a round hole out) on helicopter pad in tellico.

Also make sure to plate the attachment point, I didn't do that either.

The kickers attach the same way as yours on the unibody, I think my welds can hold it there. I can always add a little bit of a plate there. I was definitely going to work out some sort of a brace on the backside inside the hatch area and plate where it hits the floor.
