Ya. Good times, but to bad some of you couldn't make it.  Some carnage too!  Pictures coming soon.

Well, the JK (name withheld on purpose) on the trip had the transfer case shifter cable come off.  Carnage was probably used to attract attention...not an actual indication of the issue.

However, since the next few rides are likely to be less intensive than the trips later in the year, I swapped out the 35" krawlers for the 33" KM2s which allowed me to notice that one of my shocks has encountered an explosion with oils all over the shaft and housing.  I'm not sure if it happened on the ride today (unlikely) or some previous adventure.  It would be a shame to state that a Rugged Ridge shock, supplied as part of their lift kit, couldn't handle a forest service trip...so I'll go with the idea it happened on another trip. :)

Supposedly it is not an uncommon issue.

If it was common, I'd proactively find and implement a solution...if I owned a jk.

Thanks for coming out everyone. We had a great ride today.
The shift cable for the 4x4 on one of the Jk's popped off. A small C Clip that holds the end of the cable on to the 4x4 shift lever. I think it came off when he was stopped and shifting out of 4 wheel to 2 wheel. Not really much of a problem getting shifted back in to 2 wheel by hand from under the Jeep. It would be a hard fix on the trail. It's in a tight spot and the exhaust runs where you have to get one of your hands. Made me think about looking at mine and seeing if there's a mod for it. I could see if he was off camber or even in a good twist But this was on flat road and stopped.
Well thanks again and see Uall soon!  //SLAMIN//

Happened to me on Moab.  //:o//  They get brittle and crack.  The new ones are softer and shouldn't break.

18 cent plastic part.  Mine was at the shifter.  Need to do the one under the Jeep.
