Same thing that Tony speaks of can happen with a septic. Happened to my sister some years back. Got real nasty in the basement //WTF// //btt//

OFF TOPIC:

When I had slow drains at my old house, they used the optics camera to inspect it...and of course there were tons of roots in the system, but nothing was done to them (turned out to be a blocked vent causing the slow drains).  My old house did not have a basement.

My current house has a basement and I have not had anything done to my septic tanks since I moved in, 8 years ago.  What exactly (or generically) happens to the septic system with hardwoods that causes the basement to get nasty?

Hardwood trees.

There roots branch out, and if they are near the sewer line(septic or regular sewer) they will get into the line and eventually cause a back up.

I had it happen.  Cost about $1500 or so to replace the pipe in my yard.

Roots will grow through the drain line and slow down flow which over time will result into a shitty clog.

I'm dropping my Jeep off at the dealership to get the rear main seal leak fixed. They are saying it should be good to go by tomorrow afternoon and then I just need to fill up and bleed the power steering system to see if that solves my issues. One question though for those who are bringing wives/family- do any of them ever just stay back at camp while you are out wheeling? The reason I ask is that my wife is preggers and the Doc told her no more off roading due to the bouncing. I'm trying to sell her on going still, but I don't want her sitting around bored.
My wife is pregnant and she'd be coming with, along with my two-year-old son. Still need to confirm whether we are going or not, though. 80% right now.

Depending on how far along she is, she may want to ask her OB. They were horrified when she told them she went offroad with me this past weekend. She is 18 weeks along, so I am going to have to figure out how to start sneaking out of the house to go offroading  //;D//
We asked, she said it was fine, though. 13 weeks or so. We may go and decide to use the bypasses and just shoot photos/videos and let mini-me watch.

I am officially out. Just wrote a contract on a house and have to deal with home inspection. Hate I am missing the ride but I have been looking for the right home for the last 3 years.

Good luck with the inspection!

See if you can get a plumber to come out and run a camera down the sewer line if there are lots of hardwood trees near it.

If you don't want to pay a plumber... I'll come over and drop an obama.. it if flushes your good!  //LMAO// //LMAO// //LMAO//

They say we are safe and thus is to dry to rain more than a drizzle.

They say it's a dry, moisture hungry front and won't rain hard on us? :-)
