Especially the 8.8.

Sent off camber

8.8 hater!  //;D//

lol I did hate it when I had 35's and an 8.8.

Ben had a 35 and 33's and I couldn't follow his lines anywhere because that 8.8 it grabbed everything.

I know brother, You hung that jeep on everything.  //cheers2//

I think I took a grinder to my 8.8 and put a beveled edge on mine. It wasn't much but it helped it slide over stuff.

Thanks for that input.  I might do that soon, but I wish I had done that during the build of the axle.

Put a brand new flap disc on your grinder and you can do it under he Jeep.

I was thinking of just going with the grinding disc...any reason to use a flap disc instead?

More control of how much comes off without digging into the housing so bad.

A good quality (not harbor freight) flap wheel will usually remove material at a faster rate too..vs a grinding wheel in my experience

Ok, education time!  I'm aware of three different disk types...tell me where I'm wrong or doing things wrong, please:

1) Flap disk = a disk with a bunch of what appear to be cloth backed sand paper 'flaps' which overlap each other.  My experience with these disks is that they do not remove significant amounts of material (relative to a grinding disk), but can remove material and 'polish' the metal.  I typically use this disk at a ~30* angle to the surface being flapped.

2) Grinding disk = a firm/solid disk, about 1/4" thick, which remove significant amounts of material (relative to a flap disk) and leave the surface very rough.  I typically use this disk at a ~45* angle to the surface being ground.

3) Cutoff disk = a firm/solid disk, about 1/16" thick, which is used to cut through material (cut off material).  I typically use this disk at a 90* angle to the surface being cut-off.

I buy my disks from HD or Lowes...I think I buy Diablo and Dewalt branded disks.

Thanks.

You pretty much got it figured out. Just make sure when you use the cut off's or grinding disks you purchase a good brand (the ones you mentioned are good) because the cheap ones will explode on you and go flying everywhere and can be dangerous if your not wearing your PPE.

I have often worried about that, but I guess I'm luckily skittish about using cheap tools.

I'll stick to your advice and use a flap disk...if I decide to do this activity.
