My office is closed today.  Took the wife to Waffle House and saw a wreck going and a partial head-on coming home where a dually sent a accord spinning like hell and into a ditch.  People are driving too fast on solid ICE.

Same story every time this happens.
I've grown tired of this.

What a mess!
3-4 days/week I work in Buford.  I live in Atlanta.  I was in Buford yesterday and started for home at 4:15p.  I was in my A6, which is AWD, but still a sedan on radials.  I saw unbelievable amounts of stupidity on the roads.  I saw the reports of the connecter in grid lock, so I headed across on 285E toward I-20.  It was bad.  I saw several spin outs.  Each one would bring traffic to a stop.  At about Memorial drive traffic was stop and go.  Each time the traffic would stop cars and big trucks would just slide sideways.  This is all happening in slow motion.  Surreal, that a 18 wheeler would just be moving laterally from a dead stop.  At this point a 18 wheeler just slowly slid sideways and gathered up 2 other cars and pinched them up against the median wall.  Traffic stopped and people were walking around.  I knew this was my last chance.  If I didn't get out now, I would likely be spending the night in my car.  I snaked my way through a dozen cars, and around the ass end of the jackknifed truck.  I was the only one.  It was eerie being the only car on 285 after that.  No one in front or behind.

It took about 2 hours.  Nothing compared to what many of you have gone through.
Incredibly frustrating that 2" of snow can completely paralyze a major city.  The incompetence of Atlanta never ceases to amaze.
I hope you all are safe and sound by now.
My 4Runner and I are quickly becoming dirty ol' men. More attitude and less flexibility every year.

My neighborhood is covered in ice, but the Jeep didn't miss a beat. I went and did 3 donuts and some other jackass who owns a YJ came out and yelled at me.

Steve I drove a truck for 35 years and you would not believe how stupid people can be in weather like that and most of the time it's their impatience that causes 90% of the problems. Back during the 90's atlanta had a ice storm hit and I got stuck on the flyover bridge at 285 and 85 one afternoon. I'm in my 97 Kenworth and tanker with Jet -A fuel on board headed to Cherry Point, N.C. Marine base. I've been sitting still for about a hour when this woman comes flying up behind me, I'm watching her in the mirror, and she nails me in the rear. I start sliding forward and and at a angle, the slosh from the fuel in the tanker rolls forward and hits the nose of the tanker which was like getting hit again at speed. Pushes me into two small cars and we slide towards the guard rail and we're picking up speed. The two cars scoot around the rear or a box truck and I hit the box truck and jack knife and the fuel pushes me against the guard rail all on top of that high bridge going north on 85.
This woman had the gall to sue me for sitting still on the hiway and damaging her car.......lol
She lost

Took the jeep out this morning to pick up a friends kid at a neighbors house. Took the jeep back and got in the big f250. The big heavy 4x4 f250 is much better.

I would have done the same but my F350 is 2wd.  Took the Jeep to pick up one of my daughter's friends as they both have cabin fever.  About 4-5 miles each way in the Jeep - drove slow.

Didnt touch my jeep. Heavier truck with 4x4 is better in this stuff.
