Was talking to a good friend about tools at a shop I used to hang out at in Covington, as I am looking to buy some stuff for home and trail, and they had all this nice Matco stuff.  Really nice.  Anyway, they said go with 6 point so as to not round off nuts etc...   I guess 12 point is better in tight places. 

Any opinions from the GATR crew?  THis set looks like a deal for sure.

Depends on the bolt and the position. I have both and will use different ones. If it is really torqued I prefer 6 point

You can use a 12 point tool on 6 point bolts and nuts, but to do it correctly, you should use the correct tool for the bolt and nut.  Of course, all bolts and nuts should be torqued to spec...but not everyone does that, which didn't make it correct. 

My guidance, in the shop, use the correct tool.  On the trail, use the best tool you have available and don't bring the shop to the trail.

Most sets come with 12 points only. I had a hard time getting my front drive shaft off at the t case with a 12pt. Had to get a 6pt as it was stripping the bolt. I recently ordered 6pt in metric and standard wrenches that have a wide range of sizes from Sears.

Being a former wrench.... I prefer 6 pt for everything. I have limited 12 pts and have them in my road kit. You never know when you need to pull your front wheel brg and that requires a 12 pt. Moral of the story, whatever you decide on, be sure your packing the required tool for what may sneak up and bite you.
