Wtb telephone pole
« on: March 22, 2014, 02:53:59 PM »
I am looking for two 12 foot sections of telephone poles. I know it's kind of random, but figured I'd check here. I'm looking to build a zip line in the back yard and don't want to use trees.

I don't know what you're asking.

I'm checking with a coworker, whose father in law works for Georgia Power, to see if what options exist.  He will ask his FIL at church tomorrow.

12' seems short.  GBOGH!

Thanks! One side will be up on a hill. I was thinking I'll bury them 4ft deep and anchor them. Possibly even a bag of concrete.

All my friends are saying cut one down. There are a few barn poles on CL. Saw an older add for a 30' telephone pole too.

Yeah, I called that guy. He just cut them up to 10 ft.  I need at least 12. Maybe even 14

You could also use 6x6 16' pressure treated landscape timbers. Just a thougy

Jay, if you can find some newer ones that are the length you want that would be ok. Definitely don't get older "telephone" poles and then cut them. There are chemicals in them they you don't want in your yard or around your little ones. It's why no one at Georgia Power will be giving away old poles, too much liability.

If I was you, the safest thing would be to do the 6x6 PT at Home Depot.
