Cold calling on selling a house

I had a real estate agent call my house today, but it went to voicemail.  He stated he had driven by my house recently and wanted to know if I was interested in selling it.  I have little interest in putting my house on the market due to the hassle of moving, but everything I have is available for sale...always, if the price is right.  Is this a scam or an opportunity to get above fair market value?

Used homes are moving very fast and agents are trying to keep the market alive. As long as you verify the company they are with go for it. But yes moving is a pain

I feel the same way. Be very leery.

"AT&T" called me one day for a phone survey. Next day phone gets turned off because the call was a scam & thankfully the real AT &T was looking out for me. I got the bill the next month & it was $1600 more than usual. I paid zero.

Ya, I have no interest in following up on this.  Moving would be more hassle than they would reasonably pay me for.

When we were buying our house last year, we got out bid on one that we loved in a great neighborhood. Our agent proactively let people in the same area know that there was interest. Very smart imo, gave her an easy opportunity to be sellers and buyers realtor.

The house we have under contract was never listed. Out agent knew the owners were going to sell at some point. She got permission to show us the house and we made an offer that was accepted. Worked out for us.

Sometimes agents get a client interested in a certain neighborhood, so they poll various houses that meet the other criteria.
