Should have brought my chainsaw!

Ran across a downed tree on a forest service road (32 C, straight down persiminion, past the turn to Charlie's creek, beautiful ride)
Anyway, tree had fallen, had to turn around.  If I would of had my chainsaw, is it ok to cut tree and move it out of the way?  Does the FS department frown on this?

i personally carry a saw with me 24/7 and have never had any run-ins w the squirrel police about cutting a tree out of a roadway, it seems like thats only helping them do their job.
