Hug your kids, and make them wear a life vest
« on: July 28, 2015, 04:19:51 PM »
Sorry for the downer post fellas, but I want to share so everyone goes the extra mile to protect their kids.

Saturday at the lake there was a family reunion a few doors over.  We heard screams and thought there must have been a snake.

With 60 people on the dock and in the yard and on boats and jet skis, a little 3 year old boy slipped into the water off of a large inflatable unnoticed.

Once they realized he was missing and searched and found him, more screams, and a doctor and nurse family members started CPR.  8 minutes more for the first responders, another 5 for the ambulance, and they scooped him up and ran to the ambulance.  More screams.  Unfortunately he could not be revived.  I never want to hear screams like  those again.

Please don’t take your eyes off your kids and make sure they wear a life vest.  Hugum good tonight.  Big or small.

That is terrible.
People get the idea that with 60 relatives their kids are safe. Not true. This a very unfortunate lesson to learn.

That's a tragedy.  I see crazy things all the time at Lake Lanier as well.  To this day, we still mandate that everyone wear a life jacket when they are swimming off the dock or jumping in (adults, kids, etc.).  My 17 year old son and his friends moan and groan about it but they comply.

This is terrible news. I grew up sailing and always around the water and always had a life jacket on. As a sailing instructor we make all of our students wear life jackets while on the docks, boats, and sometimes on the beach too depending on what we are doing. It doesn't take much at all for a kid to drown. I still wear a life jacket when I sail on the race course.

Growing up in Florida on the water we learned to swim at very young age. Anytime someone drowns I always think that its so easy to prevent. I can't imagine what those parents are going through. Sad.
