I was on my way home from Harlan Sunday when I had a blowout on my truck on I75 near Calhoun.  Clark saw me and stopped to help, and then Scott came by and loaned me his spare.  I had already removed the blowout and put on my own spare, only to find that its valve stem had cracked.  Was a PITA since I'd checked the spare just before the Golden ride.

This is a great group, and guys are always ready to help.

On my truck the entire upper wheel well cover in the read had torn loose and folded up around the opening.  I don't know whether that was caused by the tire blowing, or it caused the tire to blow.

BTW, Harlan was good too.  The access roads were still full of puddles, so the Jeep has plenty of mud.  And for the record, it has no business doing Lions Den.

Had a great time.....
flop came within first 30 minutes...........
I had my harness on and when I started over. I made sure to
tuck my arms in and looked at where I was going to land. There
looked to be only dirt where my body was aimed at. Must have hit
my shoulder on impact. It bothered me the rest of the day. There
was a rock right at the windshield frame which it crushed and cracked
the glass. Landed hard as hell but remembered to put it in park,
cut engine and lockers off.

The recover time was about 2 hrs with getting the jeep back
over then taking spark plugs out and blowing the oil out ....
then back to camp site's for lunch. Then we added several other
members and went out again. Rode up to about 6 pm or so. Then
I headed home. Had prior commitments for Sat and Sun.....
Only damage was to the windshield frame and glass

Jeep is an easy fix...

More importantly, how is your shoulder?

We should all have bicycle helmets on when doing the obstacles like the Moab guys do.

Thankfully you weren't hurt any worse Kevin. And having that roll cage I'm sure was helpful too!

Looks like everyone had a great time. Maybe one day I'll make it back to AOP when it's dry.
