In my view a pump shotgun is a better home defense weapon than a handgun.  YMMV

Yep...safer for the ones you love, and sufficient to stop the ones you don't.

They are slightly more difficult to CC.

go to the range and shoot some, they have rentals and ammo and will let you shoot so that you can get a feel for different pistols. I hate Glocks after those experiences. I settled on a S & W M&P 9mm for my daily carry. I had a Mossburg Pump for home defense but decided it was a bit to much for my small house. My current daily is a Ruger .380 which is much smaller and less ammo but can and will suffice should the need arise. The M & P is my Home Defense go to. I would suggest heading over to http://www.georgiacarry.org/ and review and verse yourself with the laws and responsibility of carrying a weapon. Think about it and make sure you are comfortable with both the mental attitude and hitting your target. There have been times when I worked in construction (Superintendent/Project Mgr.) where keeping a cool head was more important than carrying. Don't get me wrong I felt good knowing it was there. But there are many circumstances where avoidance is a better protector.  Lastly, understand what brandishing is because it can get you in trouble. I was always taught not to show it unless I was going to use it. Others will probably argue for Open Carry but it is not a good idea in my book, I'd rather have an element of surprise on my side.

Full size pistols and heavier pistols usually feel more comfortable when you are shooting at a range for awhile.  Lots to read about on caliber as well.  Often .40 cal guns were originally designed for 9mm and don't work that well on .40 etc...  For home defense you may want to shoot an AR15 as well - very easy to control and aim with a huge selection of customizations and purpose designed bullets.  Much easier to hit a target with a short barrel rifle than a pistol, plus a large magazine.

If that is really your collection that is utterly amazing. I agree, Hickcock45 is a good channel as well as SPF Russia. Some funny $#!t on there.

No I wish. There is over a million dollars in that picture. A lot of full auto stuff. If you zoom in you can see some high dollar rifles.

Take a look at the Springfield XD-S 9mm.  They're throwing in some extra goodies right now.  You can't go wrong with an M&P Shield either. Very similar guns.

9mm ammo is cheaper than 40 cal and would be better to learn with (since it's cheaper).
