yup, thats what im trying to do, just hope my budget does not screw it up too much.   :)

Can you wait a couple of months to save up the money to do it like you want, or is it a need now thing (Obama is coming for them...lol), or are you just set that it can't cost more than $650?

With my wife and daughter sucking all the $ out of me for this dam wedding, i was able to (clark)away some cash.  and thats it.  if i wait a few months, pretty sure i wont have any more but i could have less..  plus obama is a concern.. and besides pistols i wanted something ... mmm  a bit more for home defense..

I would not even worry about obama. There is no way he could ban them. I used to think that and thus why I was wanting to get one before this could happen but it will not. Keep saving! Hide your money  //;D//

Looking at a carbine barrel, and can't decide on a foregrip length. Going free float... any opinions?

I like the look of this one, and reviews seem pretty positive

Not bad at all. It's better than the last one that Cherokee had on sale

So maybe I should just see if they have any more of these left and find me some manual flip sights. ?

So I will be headed to Cherokee Gun and Pawn to pick up that AR-15 Today (around 12 noon) .   I'm sure i could spend more and build a better AR but after all the comments, and well.... im really just starting out with the AR-15.
This(hopefully) will be a great quality starter AR for me.   not to many frills.

Allow me to do some mods(hopefully), buying it from a sound dealer who has a great reputation and the gun is not to shabby? its quality? I hope.....    just not at the scale of what some of you guys have.

but..

It will server the purpose, I will just keep it clean (do with all my guns), shoot it often and add a few things down the road.  need some manual flip sights and then a scope, maybe a few other extras.  but it will be something i can enjoy for several years until i learn it better.

Kind of like my Jeep.   drive it stock.  pretty dam good ride stock.. then add some things as i learn more .

I think just like a jeep , a gun's most important part is the person behind the trigger.

Thanks guys for all the advice and help, I will be using Bobbys guy in the future im sure.  and John, i still want to hook up and get some knowledge and let you give me some guidance with this thing.  maybe we can do that nxt months once the holidays calm down.

Took a few days to make a decision, but I picked up an empty lower.

If any of you have built or upgraded and kept the take offs and you want to get rid of them, post up or shoot me a PM
