Need a new floor jack
« on: January 27, 2016, 08:40:02 AM »
I finally have to get rid of the Craftsman 3 ton floor jack that I bought in 1997.

I want to buy a 3 ton aluminum floor jack.  I looked at Harbor Freight and Northern Tool.  I assume that no matter where you buy one, they're all imports.

Suggestions (cost is a factor)

I bought a 3 ton at HF about 5 years ago and still have it. Works great and has never let me down.

Great to hear for 2 reasons.  One, it works.  Two, if it let you down, you might be dead.  :)

The Arcan at Northern Tool gets great reviews.

I found a Made in USA jack.  Hein Werner, but steel.  3 ton for $367.  I could be two Harbor Freight aluminum jacks for that.

That's the one I have.  HF crap gave out pretty fast for me...other people have better experience than me and YMMV.

How did it give out? Just leaks down or did something actually break?

Does that mean you can jack up the jeep but not lower it?

It's just an o-ring that seals it up. I think it's a pretty generic size as well
