Roswell Hardware is right down the street from my house.  I was in there on Sunday looking for something and looked at their HUGE display of BGE's and accessories.  Since 90% of the time, I grill for just 2 or 3 people, I'm thinking the Large would be the right size.  They're running a sale now and the Large BGE, next, ash dohicky, 20# charcoal, and grill grabber is $799.  Looking at the accessories it looks like someone could go broke on those alone.  Must haves are a cover and shelves.  What else?

I'm still debating.  I have to replace my grill in the spring.  I probably use it 3x a week.  Then there is the whole learning curve.

Almost all the fire stations in DeKalb use the Big Green Egg. I have used one for the past 5 years and it's warranties for life! Really easy to use and it doesn't burn through the wood charcoal like gas grills. The price they have the large is a great deal! Have you checked out their HQ off of 85?

If you have a resturant, you can become a culinary partner. They give you a green egg as long as you post that you use it.

Hello, my name is Don.  I'm a newbie to the BGE.  I told Roswell Hardware I was there becuase they donated to CFR and to sell me everything I needed.  They forgot to give me the bag of charcoal but told me to come back tomorrow and pick it up. Table, large egg, bunch of other stuff I don't know what any of it is. The guy there said he was friends with Jay Desilva.  I told him I didn't know who that was.

Total cost?  Rough numbers, if you're willing to share.

Like $1200 for the egg, ash tool, grille tool, bag of charcoal, nest, plate setter, some other stuff, wood table with a granite top and the table nest rather than the full standalone nest
Bought a pizza stone, pizza spatula thing, cast iron grate, correct cover for the table and egg, loof lighter, some other stuff I can't even remember and tax was ~16-1700 out the door.  Expensive and you can buy much less than I did and be happy I'm sure.  Also got a 15% off accessories coupon so might buy something else today if someone tells me I need something.

The large egg without the table and with ash tool, charcoal, grate tool, and standalone nest was 'on sale' for $799.  Seems more a regular price and Stout Brothers in Smyrna had the same deal so probably a corporate price deal.
Thanks!

Nice table. Do you know how much the table alone was?

For info

For comparison, mine is Cypress out of an Ace in Macon, a little different with a split lower shelf for more storage room. Was $375

Mine was $350 Cypress from an Ace Hardware a few years ago in Macon if my memory serves. It's s little different with a lower split shelf for more storage

Nice Don!  About the same list of things that I bought for about the same money.  It must be the standard newb package they sell.  :)

When is the party?

Don, I edited your title on this thread since the debate is over...you will enjoy the egg.  It is an initial investment and learning curve at first but that sucker will last a long time.  I think mine is 7 years old.

3 sub 350deg cooks done to cure the felt- sausages, chicken, more sausages.  As you guys know,  I'm surprised it is so easy to use - almost disappointingly easy.  No voodoo too it, it just works and well.  Really happy with the purchase on day 2.  Was thinking I'd have buyers remorse buying a grill that cost so much - nope.  Doing pizza tomorrow.
I usually do pizza at 700 or a little higher. Use parchment paper until the dough firms up and then remove while on grill still. Maybe 10min top and is done.
