JULY 15TH-17TH : Hale Mtn Pictures and Stories
« Reply #36 on: July 17, 2016, 04:23:24 PM »
Great weekend of wheeling as always. Hale Mtn never lets us down, killer trails with rocks everywhere.

It ended up not raining late Saturday afternoon even though it really looked like it would.  Jay and I ended up going out on a night ride w Patrick and Cole...damn good time right there. Hale is FUN at night.

I took zero pictures. Very sorry to those that were wheeling hard in the effort to get a picture of the month shoot. Looks like John and Mark shot a few pics.

TC's carnage
Poked a hole in the sidewall of my front passenger Pit Bull late on Friday. No idea at all where it happened or how. Used two plugs and it held for wheeling on Saturday. Will most likely pull it off and have it vulcanized and move it to my spare wheel and put it a new one one for wheeling and driving...unless the tire shop says all is good with however they can more permanently fix it.

Just got back to Augusta!

First time at Hale for me too... I had a great time, and it was awesome to meet and wheel with you guys. Thanks so much for welcoming my friends as well. Hopefully they'll join up on the forum and make some future rides with the group.

We got lucky saturday afternoon, the storm stayed away aside from 5 minutes of sprinkling, but was pretty dry for the afternoon/night ride. We covered a lot of ground, and hit some pretty cool obstacles.

As Bobby mentioned, I think almost every trail in the park was marked with a black diamond sign. My 35" tires were the smallest in the group, and it was definitely a handicap with the  size of the boulders and the height of the ledges.

Barely any pics, but I'll post what i got later

Tony.   How did the AR preform. How did it flex?

It seemed to work very nicely. Stable and smooth. Best I can tell it flexed out appropriately

Heck of a trip. Wish it would have been more dry, but it wasn't too bad.

First off, trailering will change your life. Big thanks to Kevin for loaning me his trailer. I'll work towards getting my own and get it all set up to basically grab clothes and go.

We got out there on Friday afternoon and wheeled for a bit. My arb line to my rear locker melted through right after the last obstacle Friday evening. Thanks to Tony for being prepared, he let me use his repair kit. I've ordered two kits today to replace his and start carrying my own.  I also purchased a tire repair kit after seeing Tony's trail repair on his self proclaimed almighty pitbulls. :)

Great day Saturday and a solid night ride (Patrick talked me into it after I already aired up). Aired back down and glad I did. We hit a good bit of the park.

I only took a few pics at the very end.

Yeah, I'll likely switch to that. I have steel up front now.

I forgot some devastating carnage.

One of the bling bling center caps took a beating. Soooo disappointed.

Pros and Cons to everything I guess.  I will not run steel ARB lines.  They may be better for heat but if they ever come lose and catch on something they may do a lot more damage like rip  the line right out of the differential instead of breaking.  I'll take an easily repairable broken nylon hose all day, but that's just me.

The "problem" is that if that line breaks, you supposedly can't fix it like you did for the blue line.

Hmm...trailering and airing up don't go together...maybe it is an old habit that you need to break.  If you're going to run on the road when you get home, air up at home.
