Grill build
« on: October 25, 2016, 09:58:14 PM »
So Jay water me to post this...

I built it a couple of summers ago and like anything it's a work in progress.

Started with on old water tank (about 35 gallons) I found behind a building I worked in. I mated that to some gas tank that was scrap in my dad's work shop with 2x3 tubing. I mounted the whole thing to a 1 inch square tubing frame.

I built the door hinges with the door in place before it was fully cut out to make sure things stayed square. Flat bar was used to seal the door for the fire box and the main grill.

I mounted the same rectangle tubing to the main box for exhaust tubes. The wheels came off of an old John Deere lawnmower.

The latch is a t-bar that rotates those two pieces of rebar so that they slide into the main box to keep the lid closed

There is a grate that slides and lifts so that I can grill with direct heat in the main box.

The fire box also has a grate to keep the fire off of the floor.

I added a wood counter to each side. And a cup holder.

Works pretty good so far.

Nifty...but I think the Coke holder is the best thing there!
