Good point.  I assume in that condition, it's going to be a trail rig only.  If it's a street driver and a trail "TIP TOE" rig, a D30 might last a few rides.   :D :D

If you are going to make it 4x4, then you might as well make it strong enough to actually wheel and have some fun.  Then a D44 minimum.

you need to stop bashing the D30 {no}. I haven't broken anything in/on my d30 since I have been on 36s. Last time I even popped a u-joint was on 35s with 260x u-joints.  {nln}

(of course now I have jinxed myself and will blow it up the next time out).

True, not everyone can throw in a 44 or 60 right of the bat, but I think what they're getting at is not that the D30 or whatever is horrible or bashing on people for having them. Its more like if you're gonna make a 4x4 out of a 2wd, at least put something bigger in since you're gonna be doing custom mods anyway.

WTF!  Come on Mike, nobody said that.  If you have one already, it's a different story.  If somebody gave you one, that's cool too.  I said if I am going to wheel it, and it needs an axle, I would not put a Dana 30 in it.
