--- Quote from: lt99ls1 on May 03, 2017, 11:20:15 AM ---I have gained 58lbs in the last two years. I told my doctor that something was wrong when I started gaining weight because the calorie intake vs what I was burning should have been pushing my weight lower. His response was "Your getting older and your body is slowing down." After 7-8 months of complaining to him and some new complications, I finally got some other test done and found out what was going on with my body. It was oddly satisfying to hear the doctor say "You couldn't have lost any weight if you were eating 800 calories a day but I can help you get everything straightened back out."
I have been on some new prescriptions and supplements for 3 days now but I can tell a tremendous change in my body.
I plan on just eating right, working out and waiting for the weight to start dropping off and my body to change shape.

That sucks but glad it's getting movement the positive way. Hypothyroid?

Yep, hypo and a couple other things.

I've had Hypothyroid for 17 years. Once you're on meds, it's no different than anyone else. The first thing the endocrinologist said to me is that it isn't an excuse to get fat. Eat right and exercise and you'll be trim.

That even more encouraging. I just had to get the doctor to realize that I was doing my part already and my body wasn't responding correctly. I am really looking forward to getting back down to 235ish.

11 days later, I am down 2 lbs and I have lost 1/2 an inch off my waistline. Eating 2200 calories a day and have been hitting the elliptical for 40 minutes a day, two days on 1 day off.

When we got back from Mexico on 5/13, I didn't need to get on the scale. I knew by the way I could barely button my shorts that I packed it on in a week. But that is what vacation if for, right.
Immediately got back to eating right and working out Sunday and got rid of all of the vacation bloat last week. Didn't have a drink until Saturday at the BGE Festival in Hiawasee. Feeling a lot better.
Heard this morning that another HS classmate died at 55 (Class of 1980). Staying at a healthy weight doesn't guarantee a longer life but statistics prove it will help. Look at typical issues people have and the first thing the doctor will tell them. Bad back, first thing, lose weight. Snoring/Apnea, lose weight. No stamina, lose weight. I took a lot of shit for kidding someone about NutriSystem for Men. It wasn't a cheap shot, it really did come from a place of concern .... well, and breaking balls, it's what we do.
Keep with it everyone, it pays off each day!
