Just make sure that you do not use galvanized bolts.

That was just an online pic to share the concept since I don't know if I have any good pics on my phone. Mine is a large and the grate size is a little smaller than the main grate, but don't remember dimension.

Good point.  Which ones would you recommend?  Stainless?

JRay thanks for the idea.  I think this might work on the medium with a 14" grate on top.  Could've gotten shorter bolts but about to give it a go.
