Honda Ruckus Toy
« on: September 27, 2017, 09:27:32 PM »
Quite a few college kids have mopeds around the flat roads of Melbourne Florida here. I wanted an alternative ride from the Jeep to prolong tire life, gas mileage, and all other wear and tear for just driving the 5-10 mins to school campus everyday.

A motorcycle store right near me got in touch with me and a friend to help them start a moped lease program for college kids. While my thought was to lease one of their mopeds to do a buy out sort of program. My heart got set on a Ruckus for its more rugged look and simplicity. I scrolled through craigslist for a couple weeks and came upon a good deal that I plan to go buy tomorrow.

Didn't know if anyone on here had any experience with mopeds or Honda Ruckus's but if you do please feel free to share experiences and tips.

This was also a good move in my opinion so I can save the gas money to buy more Jeep parts!

If I lived in the city & worked 10 minutes away, I'd ride a scooter.

"Probably needs to be re-jetted" sounds a lot like "it definitely needs work, but I can't find the right parts or they don't exist without buying something else that's really expensive otherwise I would have already done it

Make sure that those carb parts are easy to find. Sometimes modern carbs lack aftermarket support

Good point. He may not know what the actual issue is.

I did take apart my go kart carburetor and rejet it on a 150cc GY6 engine. which is why the rejetting issue didn't seem like a big deal to me.

Thanks for the tip.

Money to buy whatever, money to maintain it, insurance, whatever is a lot of gas money for a jeep. Especially if it's only a 5 minute ride. You will find ways to spend money on it and just be going backwards.

Not driving something to not put miles on it, is kinda like keeping for girlfriends \/ fresh for the next guy.
