Jeep Wall Art
« on: December 27, 2017, 11:15:00 PM »
Wanting to spruce up my room at college I have been searching for a jeep grill to hang on my wall. I had been searching CL for a few months when a couple weeks before my drive up to ATL for break I saw one for sale for all of $15. I picked it up and put a little time into sprucing it up.
Thanks to @Raisinhead for the headlights and fog lights.
I was able to squish in the fog lights to the turn signal hole and added some indoor lighting to the housings.

Used some 4w bulbs in each housing and ran it all through some lamp chord with a switch.
The fog light housings are just pressed in while the headlights are held on by using epoxy with some pieces of wood strung around the side.

Dorms have gone downhill.  The fixture looks nice, though.

The pic was taken in my unfinished basement. Dorms aren’t that great but not that bad lol

I saw a guy selling Jeep and old school truck grilles at the Braselton antique festival for $150 - $300+. No lights, no paint, nothing. Just the mounts attached to the back. There was about 12-15 when we first got there and only around 5 or so left when we went to leave. That guys making a killing! Also saw a cool old Chevy bench for sale. Got me thinking...

Haha ya I have been thinking of making some to sell. I always keep my lookout for jeep grills but people always want around 100 or so dollars for them. I snagged mine for $15.

My next project is a lamp made of ring gears and pinions that I was able to snag from a shop around here for free. I can use my school miller welders and machine shop tools all for free so I should be able make this lamp for little cost.

I’ve got a tailgate project I’m working on. If it turns out like I’m picturing, it’s gonna be sweet.
