I've been there several times and haven't ever noticed any mud pits. I think @BigPrince is the only one on here that really enjoys the mud. He just loves it!

I am a born again mud virgin practicing abstinence.  Sometimes It takes 4” of mud inside the Jeep to learn the hard way.

We all know Kevin enjoys sliding around in it too.

I will be venturing out for the first GATR ride on this one. Just Saturday. Any cheap hotels nearby? Coming from Athens. I don’t have my camping gear yet.

John said hotels are tight due to a Talladega event, which means not cheap over towards Anniston/Oxford (the nice hotels).  Having said that, I've stayed at the America's Best near the Morris exit before, and it's cheap and functional, but it isn't for everyone.  The owner is a wheeler, and gives a discount.  I've slept in my truck before at Morris...I don't recommend that.

My suggestion is to invest in good quality camping gear (a good tent, a great air mattress, and decent pillows), and you will get your money back in one or two trips (versus a hotel).  Plus you will get a few years of use out of that gear.

Rain is a killer for camping for me, so hotels are much better if it's raining...presuming you don't drink around the campfire.

Since I am a drunk, I have Coleman instant up tents that can completely close up for the nasty weather, and set up in about a minute (maybe 3 minutes if I'm drinking and talking).

I’m not picky where I stay by any means. I do use a CPAP machine, so I have to research a way I can get power to it with camping.

Most camps have power, and if I am there, I usually have a small generator for a fan in my tent if it's summer.  In the winter I run an electric heater,  but I don't know how much a cpap machine draws.

As long as campsites have a power outlet I can use an extension cord for it, or I can invest in a portable battery made for them

MM has a 110(regular household) outlet on the back of  the bath house(loose term, don't get your hopes up) if you've got a 100' cord. It'll reach most anywhere you want to camp there. I ran a heater off of it in January when we were there. It was super cold.

I actually used a spare battery from the Jeep and a dc inverter over night at CFR

I use one too and purchased a golf cart battery from Batteries Plus and use a DC adapter I found on cpap.com for my Resmed 9 unit. It will power the main unit without the humidifier for 2 nights.
There is good info at http://www.cpaptalk.com/CPAP-Sleep-Apnea-Forum.html

I've stayed at the America's Best place a couple of times.  Decent room for the price.
