Sheriff’s Jeepfest
« on: July 27, 2018, 06:28:46 PM »
New to Jeepfest. Registered for this year. What should I expect? What trails are on the trail rides? Figured I would ask past participants rather than asking the host for generic answers.

I've been to every one except the 1st one.
#1 rule- avoid the Thursday night ride. They are a complete cluster f#$k.
Seriously.
If you want to ride any trails, go on Friday morning.
The show n shine on Friday night is pretty coil but it usually come a  major storm before hand.
Expect delays on the trails on Saturday and Sunday.

Expect to be in park more than drive if you go sat or Sunday. Trails are easy but lots of newbies

Wheel Friday, chill out at home base on Saturday & it thins out some on Sunday.
The obstacle course is fun & more challenging than the trails but the trails have shade.
There are a ton of vendors there & a good bit of 2nd hand stuff at the North GA Jeep Parts spot. He has great deals.

Lame is a matter of option.
My wife loves the atmosphere & it got her back into going to parks. The kids like it too.

Last year was our first time. I loved it. While I agree that the trails are pretty easy, any excuse to go Jeeping is a good one.   The obstical course is a ton of fun but gets pretty backed up on Saturday, get there early (same for the trails). Remember there are a ton of Jeeps in a small area. 😉

Already have my spot for this year. As someone else mentioned the atmosphere is great...lots of stuff to drool over and lots of Jeep envy to experience. The kids love it as well.

Thanks for the note about the night trail ride. Was a bit bummed we were going to miss it but, if it is a cluster better to just write it off.  ☠️

So how do the trail rides work? Do they give you a trail head address and you just go to the trail? Or do they line everyone up a home base and then go as a group? I have seen videos and know they have event staff at the trails.

I've been a few times....hard core guys hate it. Friday is the only
day to go in my opinion. First year I went the obstacle course was
not open on Friday. Last time I went it was so that made it better.
Trails are easy but perfect to get the wife, kids or other family
members out for the first time.

When I went you just go the trails and get in line. They have
volunteers showing the way once you get on the trails. It's a
charity event. It's made for newbies and mall crawlers. You
can have a really good time..

I agree Kevin.  It is what it is.  I have gone for the last few years, but I avoid the trails now after having to tow a guy out who broke both front and rear axles on one of the trails.  I like to walk around homebase and check out the vendors and watch the obstacle course.  It's also fun just seeing the various rigs in the parking areas.  It's a reason to take a ride on that Friday.

John, are you going this year?  This sounds like what I would want to do.
