Sears

My wife read that the Sears in Gainesville will start their store closure/ liquidation sale in 2 weeks.
I have a 20 foot container on the way & hope to get some decent shelves & lighting once the inventory is gone.

Is that when they are going to start start getting rid of inventory or actual store fixtures? Keep us posted! I'd love to go on a shopping spree for tools :)

I’m interested as well. When I was in there about 1 week ago the shelves were already looking naked. I wondered why.

I went a month or two ago to get a ratchet fixed.
I talked to a older guy who said they just got alot of inventory in. It looked pretty sparse to me.
I'm guessing they received inventory from another store that closed down.
I'll go over Thursday & report back.

They just built a new location in Blairsville, relocated from their old place.  Brand new from ground up.

Smart business decisions like that are why they are on the financial decline.

I think their biggest problem was buying K marts. Putting Craftsman tools in Kmart cheapened the brand.

I'm not sure I agree on the cheapening of the Craftsman brand by putting them in Kmart, but I'm sure there will be a lot of debate for decades.

I think, "the softer side of sears" is what did them in...oh, and having everything I needed from them available at Home Depot, Lowe's, and Amazon.

Manufacturing tools in China is what "cheapened" the craftsman name. That and not staying in touch with the overall tool market. Your name can only take your so far. When sears sold craftsman to Stanley it was the beginning of the end in my mind.
Now that Lowe's is carrying them, and from what I've heard, insisting that they will only sell "made in the USA" there might be a chance for revival. Time will tell.

Good point,  I forgot all about them being made a Jina.
We have them at Ace Hardware too.

Tools are on sale but nothing spectacular.
They have a tool bag full of tools for $100. I thought about getting it to throw in the XJ but 1/2 of the items were bits.
I'll get HF disposable tools instead or wait for a real sale.

Pro-tip: If you weld everything, you dont need to carry as many hand tools
