So sad for the loss of this event. Cool heads will prevail and I do hope that many will learn from this mistake so that our sport will not be affected by a single mistake.

here is an article on the lady that was hurt

http://www.moabsunnews.com/news/article_088dd726-77ff-11e9-9298-0357e05fdaf6.html?fbclid=IwAR3_HvwjunN0zY3gV8By834tJNJXJT_onp4pdTuLRZr_rxzUYAb8-NwbFLk
so...she did not lose the leg?, but she needs a bunch of recovery activities and surgeries?  While not great, it's surely better than losing the leg...if I'm reading the article correctly.

That’s what I’m seeing too, she did not lose any limbs. Praise the Lord.

I can’t say anything about the accident as I was not there. But I have watched this guy’s YouTube videos ever since he started posting them mid 2018 because there was just too little JL content to watch much else. He seems like a nice guy and he’s got a young family but I could tell immediately that he was not an experienced wheeler. You take someone with little experience and put him in Moab on a set of 37s and there is always potential for an accident. His spotter was definitely telling him to hold up... so whether that was driver error or vehicle error, something went terribly wrong because a Jeep in 4-low shouldn’t be moving that fast.

When I tore my knee up wakeboarding in college, my insurance kept trying to get me to say it was my friend's family fault. Asking "if I was pressured or encouraged to engage in risky behavior" or some nonsense.

I'm betting whoever's insurance is going to pay for this, doesnt want to

True, but what I recall reading was that the lady herself was getting a lawyer, so I presume that isn't the one the insurance company will use or provide.

A lot of insurance agencies won’t even try to talk to you if you don’t have a lawyer. They’ll just let you wallow.  I don’t blame her. That’s a life changing injury and she should do everything to make sure she’s made as whole as she can be now.
