It has 170k on it. I want to either supercharge or stroke it, but either way would require significant downtime and probably a rebuild. Was planning on buying a spare motor sometime next year with plans to drop it in over the holidays next year

All I know about a stroked 4.0 is they are hard to keep cool in a XJ. Hell, in stock form as well.

Most of the issues are with the older 4.0s and people running too high of compression. I'm going to keep it conservative, 4.6L on 89 octane making about 280hp
