CAUTION:  use a current map!

We wasted hours trying to go to a trail that was marked as a "Jeep" trail on a previous map, but for that year had been changed to an ATV only trail.  Very frustrating.

There’s an app for the park, $10 for a week, $20 for the year. Updated a month ago.

Man, between that, the land use rates, and the camping/cabin arrangements...they've gotten outrageously expensive.

Of course, I think Hale has gotten expensive too.  Maybe they're all expensive.

How much was hale last time? They definitely shouldn’t charge a premium with those “amenities”!

Get there on Thursday, pull out on Sunday...primitive camping:  $60. I don't think passenger's have to pay,  but I don't know for sure.

Includes great toilets (no sarcasm), and interesting showers (no sarcasm).

I'd pay it every time...great park.

Lol...$30k.  You're giving hope to someone.  It's only worth ~$20 - 25k, but I have a lot more in it.

I agree it’s at least a bit surprising the cost for a weekend there. Granted I don’t normally have the wife and kids along, but I’ll have about $140 invested for permits and the map, plus the cabin (which was my choice as my bday present from my wife). But with the size of the place I can see how it might be worth it and most places you’re in for $20-30 so one time a year or whatever isn’t too bad.

Just a PSA...I believe any firewood has to be bought up there, I saw something about that on the website (purchased within 30 miles) and I know I’ve been camping up in Tennessee and the state park had a similar regulation. Something to do with keeping invasive pests out I think. I was planning to offer up our fire ring at the cabin (Oak View, off the main entrance road) to the group as well. Either way.

Cost is per passenger, and last time I was up there my friend had to pay full price for his passenger wife, no discounted rate. Go wheeling monthly with a family of 4, and I'm sure it adds up to a lot for most wheelers
