The problem is by the time you buy the saw, stand, grip vise and shipping your pushing $800.
I was thinking to build your own...based on that as a concept.  Then it'll only cost you $3k at your normal hourly rate ;)

For $800, I bet you can buy a used big band chop saw....but I wouldn't bet much.

HF has a big one for $279

I've seen some single phase ones on FB marketplace for far less than $800. And they would work better I'd imagine.

Nothing beats a horizontal bandsaw for cutting stock materials!

Exactly....if I had known how cheap they are, and how much a chop saw sucks, I would have gotten one a long time ago.

The cold saws are awesome too...but for the lazy person, horizontal bandsaws are perfect.  The ones I'm seeing also have a table capability, but it looks awkward to use with the big stand directly in front of it.

I have one and have not used it for years.  At first it was the greatest thing since sliced butter.  Then other tools have started taking its place.  The accuracy and depth of cut became a bigger issue to me with the portaband.

My need for portable bandsaw work has diminished, that or I do it with other tools.

A cold cut saw is awesome, and I need/want a new one.

All depends on what you are looking to cut and where.

We still talking about portabands or jeeps?

Heck, I have 3 of those and no time to use them, moving to the new place and getting everything set up is taking longer than I thought.  I think that spells $$$$

the new shop area
But that is another topic all together

More importantly, everyone knows that you need a portaband to install a garbage disposal!

Well, it's only $359.99 without the accessory table and C clamp.
