I am a maybe for Friday. It will be my first wheeling trip if I can swing it (aka if I receive required-to-ride items). My wife and two sons (4,6) will be along for the ride as well.
For this ride,  the big required to ride items are: capable vehicle with seat belts, tow points

It would be nice to have a winch, recovery gear,  fire extinguisher (I can loan you one but if the vehicle burns down,  it's not my fault), and GMRS radio

Don't let the lack of the GMRS radio keep you from coming.

Good news all items acquired and FCC licensed for the GMRS I will be there on Friday.

awesome!

Yeah, the FCC GMRS thing has never been a big deal in the real world, but the club must condone being legal...and supposedly the GMRS militia will track you down and report you to the FCC...but it's never happened to any GATR member that I know of.

I was working on the buggy the other day in the garage, just checking through everything and the radio was on. It was still on GATR 13 from a previous ride and I swear I was picking up a private conversation with 2 cops. It wasn’t coming through great but the gist was they were driving around and going to meet up for a coffee.

First time I’ve ever heard anything on our channels outside of an orv park

I don't make many rides. But when I'm there I always carry a couple extra handheld for anyone that may need one.

Unfortunately, we won’t be making the trip over today. Y’all have fun and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Started over yesterday and had a flat on the trailer, was in a bad spot so I put a plug in hoping it would make it and it did to Welch. Then I had to change it, of course, the jack was low on oil so I put some power steering fluid in it(it was all I had). I had to hook up the compressor to the jeep both times to pump the tires up and buy the time all that took place it was afternoon, so we ate and came home. Sorry I didn't get to meet you guys this ride but maybe next time.
