I think I'll be set for practice scrap...but what is the minimum voltage needed for DOM? my buddy's granddad has a mig welder, but I'm not sure what voltage it is..it'll be good for practice either way..

It depends on the thickness. You can weld 1/4" mild steel with a fluxcore 110 rig with 2 passes. I spent a bunch of time with a 230 mig the other day and it is {hooters} SO much easier to get good penetration with it. I also got to play with a TIG for a little bit, I like it but I definitely need some more trigger time with it.
