Back in febuary of '07 in North GA. It came in around 7pm and did not quit till midnight. GORGEOUS watchin it come down!

About 30 miles north of Helen. Nice hidden spot off the main road.
Several weeks ago, Doug invited me to do more than just lurk on your forum. I thought I would've been able to participate in one of your organized trail rides by now, but it hasn't worked out just yet. Anyway, in the mean time, I can add to my post count with a comment here....
One of places in north Georgia I like to go camping and hike out of is about 10 miles north of Helen at Unicoi gap. The appalachian trail crosses hwy 17 there. There's a forest road to the left that winds deep into the woods and finally comes upon a non-reserved campground. I call it the chattahoochee campground because the headwaters of the chattahoochee river gather there. (That might be the real name of the campground, but I'm not sure.)
The forest road continues to wind around for several miles in a generally south direction and drops you back into civilization closer to the town of Helen. It's not a jeep trail, but it is a nice dirt forest trail. There are a few more places to camp along this route. There are also a few gated forest roads that fork off and always seemed to be locked when I'm there. Maybe they're only open for hunters, or forest access.
So maybe the above picture is somewhere near this area? I like to camp like this and would be interested in going this winter if I see any discussion on your forum. I haven't been back up there in a couple years. It can be cold and miserable....and fun. In good weather, you don't need a jeep to get back in there. But it would be a good forest ride for stock jeeps (and anyone else who likes that kind of thing).
