Ford Stuff. Bronco II/Explorer

(1/1)

TheSouthernBird:
OK,
if anyone has, knows where one is or will keep an eye out, I am in need a 1991 ford explorer 4.0 4x4. preferably one under $1,000.00. body condition doesn't matter, blown motor, bad trans ok,..as I am really after the axles, springs, motor, computer, radiator etc.  for my bronco build.

I am also in need of a 1350 manual shift Tcase with the shifter, shifter boot & linkages for A4LD transmission..
&...I think that's it..

ranger11:
Does it have to be 91?

Im pretty sure this is 4x4 look at the front wheels looks like auto hubs to me

TheSouthernBird:
awesome deals.. I  emailed a few of them..

the only reason I say 91 is that from what I have been reading on the BII 4.0 dana 35 & 8.8 conversion
the 91 4 door explorer works best as the wiring for the motor swap is mostly plug & play..  after 91 they seem to get weird & harder to wire everything up. tons of splicing etc.
I am sure I could make a later model work. but the easier I can make it on my self, the better off I am..lol

I do think some rangers may even work.. do you know if 91 rangers had the 4.0, d35 front & 8.8 rears?..

they say to bring as much from the explorer as possible.
motor, wiring, computer, radiator, trans & of course the running gear.. going to rebuild everything while its out anyways so finding one with a bad engine or tran should be the cheapest route. unless I get lucky..

should be a fun project..

ranger11:
The rangers do have 4.0s and 8.8 d35 Im not sure the year they started with the 8.8 the first year for the 4.0 was 90 I think that was the the first year for the 8.8.

Ingnore all of the above click this  http://therangerstation.com/tech_library/Axles.html

TheSouthernBird:
