Jeep Beach 2009 Daytona 5/15 - 5/17

Ok so here is a silly question for us non beach folks... How packed is the sand there? Don't want to go driving and be "that guy" who got stuck. But for all I know we might stop air down and put in 4wd before going out...

ok. Megan asked. She is good to go so we hinge on the whole graduation thing so sometime mid March I will let you know!

Also, going to contact the camp ground... it says $22 per person per night to camp but then a little further down the page it says price is for 2 adults. I will gladly camp for $22 a night with showers, bathrooms, pool, ect over the hotel price but if its $44 a night, not sure. I would imagine the ocean breeze keeps the place cool at night. It says avg high temps are 78 so not bad.

well after a picture of the beach Megan is pretty much sold on this one. She said for all she cares we can screw the Cumberland trip, save the money for Daytona and if need be she will go to MD on her own for the graduation. I will still probably wait till March till reserve but we will probably do the La Quinta.. I mean $57 a night, 10 minutes from the beach and right by the race track... cant beat it. Mike you gonna haul down the camper or hotel it?

Anyways, trying to plan ahead. What days to folks plan to take off work and possible caravan down? I was planning Friday and Monday since registration doesn't open till Friday afternoon (I think) and Sunday is the Jeep parade and don't want to miss that.

I will be taking Friday off hoping to get there around noon. But it's only a 4 hour drive for me!

From what I can see on our map program at work it looks like 6.5-7 hours with a 30 minute break. I use to work in Jacksonville so the time sounds about right.

I was planning on driving down Friday, staying overnight and driving back Saturday night.
Sunday is the Jeep Parade? Damn, I have to be back Sunday because I have a Hockey Game that evening, double header actually.
Anyone know what time the Jeep Parade is?
