2009 Moab Easter Jeep Safari Trip April 3-12

(1/16) > >>

DOUG:
Ben (Krawler) and I will try to do a good job for you guys recording our trip, and will post nightly to this thread while we are in Moab.  (We still need a photographer!)

We’re participating in the Moab Easter Jeep Safari, which offers organized, guided rides Saturday through Easter Sunday.  It is put on by the “Red Rock 4-Wheelers”.  www.rr4w.com. There will be over 1000 jeeps in town on Friday-Saturday.  We will ride 6 consecutive days, Sunday –Friday.

There is a large newspaper they put out describing the trails, guides, and sponsors, and includes all the information and forms you need to register.  You can see it electronically at http://www.rr4w.com/pageview.aspx?id=27303.

The Easter Jeep Safari has a daily trail fee and you must submit a ride form due March 3 indicating your preference for every day.  We’re hoping for a good draw early so we get everything we want.  Ours arrived there and was signed for Monday.  Info at: http://www.rr4w.com/pageview.aspx?id=16382.

6: Roads are difficult with considerable erosion damage repaired just enough to be passable. Water in excess of 12” is possible with mud conditions. Steps not exceeding 24”. Tall tires (33” plus) with traction added devices (lockers, limited slips) are recommended. A winch would be a plus. Enhanced suspension travel and ground clearance are helpful. Excellent driving skills are recommended.

7: Trail consists of rock; sand and considerable slickrock with many steps exceeding 24”. Steep inclines and declines are prevalent. Enhanced off road equipment is required including locking devices (front & rear), tall tires, maximum vehicle ground clearance, and tow hooks. A winch is desirable. Excellent driving skills are required. Vehicle mechanical or body damage is likely. Roll over possibilities exist.

8: Extreme trail similar to #7 except a bit more extreme. Excellent driving skills are required. Vehicle damage is likely. Equipment or mechanical damage is probable Frequent use of your winch may be required.
