Wow, I would have figured the JK could out haul a liberty, go figure. I would much rather try and pull a trailer with the 4 door jk.

Durango was a good hauler. Pulled a trailer and full size truck several times without fail.

Wheelbase is the key. I towed a 3000# pop up about 10 miles and had to peel my hands off the wheel. It was not fun!

I pulled our boat this past summer with the TJ and it did ok, It locked up my lock right real tight when I pulled up the ramp. Good thing I am only 4 miles from the lake.

Yeah man the JK tow rating is low... I well, if we can't tow a trail vehicle with what we have then I won't worry about it. I don't have the cash to have a KJ, JK, tow pig, trailer and a trail vehicle!

Just out of curiosity, what kind of boat do you pull with your Jeep.  The reason I ask is I just got my pontoon boat and will be taking it out this year.  I have an 05 Crew Cab 2wd GMC Canyon and an 81 Silverado 2wd to choose from for pulling duties.  The obvious choice to me is to use the 81 Silverado due to weight,size, and power of the truck but I would like to have the extra seats in the Canyon to take people along.  I guess I'm just wanting to know what type of boat/weight you pull and how it handles it.  My biggest concern with the pontoon is not so much weight but drag.

Its an older Regency. Probably in the 17-18 foot range. My guess about 1600-1700 lbs for the boat, another 800 for the trailer. Roughly I would say around 2500lbs total weight. I have a 2.5L, 4.10 and 32s when I was pulling. Put it in 4 low on the ramp to make things easy on her.

Its how my friend gets her jetski in the water at her lake house. Does a pretty good job getting it done.
