TP - DD
« on: October 11, 2009, 07:10:16 PM »
Well, I finally got around to taking some pics of the new/old tow rig I got. Now I can park the Jeep and use it like I wanted to, for wheelin and occasional driving. This is a 1988 6.2 Diesel GMC Suburban. I actually found it right down the road from me on a little lot. I kept driving by it and looking but I finally stopped in to look and instantly wanted it. It is immaculate and has been well taken care of with 1 owner history! I have not towed with it yet but I will soon. It drives super smooth so far, no problems. I know some say the 6.2 diesels are not the best, but for what I am using it for I think it will do fine. Right now the MPGs are around 18-20. Not too shabby, considering the Jeep was around 10-12 ;D So far I have put a set of tires on it, still looking for bigger and better. Painted the grill satin black, touched up a few spots of paint and some fuses here and there. I have a list of things to do to it but right now money is tight. Any experts on these motors here? Trying to learn all I can. But anyway, here are the picks...

Looks nice Ben...   Are you going to flat tow or do you have a trailer??

Cool.  Your mpg are about the same as my 6.6.

I was amazed at the mileage being it is a huge vehicle. I can fit 9 people in this thing. :o I want to look into regearing as well. I think it has a 3.07 gear or something crazy like that. If so I am thinking of a 3.73 to pep it up a bit. Might loose a few mpgs but I can live with that.

Careful with that.  No overdrive and you only have 3000 rpm's or so to work with, and you don't want it screaming o the highway like my Waggy did.

Nice find Ben. {toast} I see a stretch coming soon to the Jeep now. {letseat}
Do Work Aka Moon Man. What you lack in technique make up in throttle! Or a set of cheater tires.
