Just get the exhaust manifolds, turbo and intake manifolds from a 6.5L turbo. They bolt right up. You will gain a lot of power and be happy. You will need to turn the fuel up in the pump, too.
You have the old DB2 mechanical pump - be happy. You have not PMD/FSD to fail which is THE most common failure on the old Detroit 6.2/6.5s. Put the turbo stuff on and you will change your mind about regearing. I owned a 1995 Suburban 6.5L with 3.73s and it was too much gear for me...keep in mind my car hauler empty is 4400lbs and I towed two cars with my burb many times. The MPG is also low for those gears. I got 20mpg with mine - you should be near 27mpg or so. May need a new set of injectors. If you swap these go with some turbo or marine injectors.

Man, I need to pick your brain on this one! Thanks for the tips! Anybody ever run a set of flowmasters on a 6.2 - 6.5? I have 2 3 chambered 40 series I want to put on it. Also, Is the bolt pattern on the wheels 5 on 5? I can't confirm the pattern on this thing and have found different answers. I measured the 1st lug and the 3rd distance and it was close to 4.75". But not precise with the wheel on. :)

I think diesels sound best with a straight pipe. Flows don't sound that good on a diesel.

Not too bad! I will look into the straight pipes too.

I think that goes for turbo diesels. It is best to have a straight thru design on turbo applications, chamber mufflers are a no no.  With his truck being N/A. The flowmaster would probably be fine. Not sure how it would sound though.

agreed on the chambered mufflers. just cut the muflers out, see how it sounds and if you dont like it then put a glasspack in

Lemme know if you want to part with the stock wheels/caps/rings.  I've got an 81 2wd pickup I'm going through.  It's got some aftermarket wheels and I'd like to put something more stock looking back on it.
