OK, I'm a newbie. No MTs yet - everything stock on an '09 Unlimited. Eager to join up though. Is this a good event for me or will I wind up holding everyone up?

This is an "Open Ride" so you should be fine.  If not I might be able to drag you through whatever you can't do on your own. 

Until a few weeks ago I was still running 30" GSA's and managed just fine on the couple of runs I made.  You will be impressed by your Jeep's stock capabilities.
