What do you think the "A" stands for? Its technical name is the D44HD because it has stronger internals then the normal D44 (not sure how it compares to the JK 44).

It makes for a lighter housing but it is known for chewing up bearings if it's not trussed.

oh great lol thats what i need another D44 to blow up and catch fire on me. LOL
