Going to attempt to...
« on: January 22, 2011, 07:54:14 PM »
change my m5od from 2wd to 4wd. i have found the new output shaft, annd i think i found a tailhousig for it. ive never done anything like that, but i do have the ford tech manual(u know the 30lb one). i think it might be a little out of my skill range and was wondering if anyone would be willing to help do it. i will buy food and beverages for the helper(s). fm146 has a lot of bearing noise like they all do and im wanting to put the heavier duty m5od in

manual makes it looks easy until it gets to the "remove cluster shaft" part lol. i scared im gonna get to doing it and get everything mixed up lol. i might get a bearing and seal kit while im at it. i already have the shifter bushing repair kit and the little plug deals for the shift rail cover

its not that hard. just use a big table or something you can mark and lay all the parts on in the order they came out.and take your time don't get in a hurry.

When I would restore a bike, I would get a binder, make drawings, take notes, bag & lable every part I took off. Being organized & working in a clean area helps doing any type of work. Just take your time & you'll get it done.

Don't come to mine or Richards shop then, we may keep up with the parts but we are far from organized or clean. ;)

Hell doing it yourselve is the best part because having bolts and parts leftover just means weight reduction.  {hihi}
Do Work Aka Moon Man. What you lack in technique make up in throttle! Or a set of cheater tires.
