get your popcorn its gonna be a long read {popcorn} {letseat} {toast}

On Thursday I got 500 bucks from my Dad for my Birthday and Christmas. I wanted to get parts for my YJ so it was time to hit the Junkyards/Small Dealers. I found a red Cherokee with 4.0L and ax15, seemed interesting to put in my Jeep, and both are bad so I tried to get it for 400-500. guy wanted 1500 for the whole Jeep, it don't even run, went around to look at the other Jeeps on the lot and there was a white MJ sitting in the back, Jaws dropped and rushed for it. it was a 2.5L & AX5, had the transfer case but was a 4x2. the body was badly damaged and rusted, bed was beat to death, and interior was a pigsty. Brought my friend to look at it more, he said its a piece of shit, too much work to restore and get running again. the Guy wanted 500 bucks, we just laughed and offered 5 bucks. they declined and my friend said he can find me the same thing, in good shape and running for the same price, less even. I told him if he can even find a running MJ for 500 bucks I'd gladly take it. so we went back to his house and went on Craigslist and found one in Florida. a 1990 Comanche 4x2 2.5L/AX5. body was in great shape and it can be restored very easy, there was barely any dents and the glass aint cracked. seats were in great condition, no rips. the ceiling fabric is sagging tho, thats an easy fix. I contacted the guy and he wanted $750 for it. I offered him 500 cash on the hood. he took the offer without hesitation. it dont run tho, so me and mom(no1 else was aviliable) drive 4 hours to Florida to take a look and see. I brought basic tools, tire wrenches, and 4 tires off my YJ (its been sitting 6 months, tires obviously flat) we arrived there, I took a look and see and it was the fuel pump, luckily the guy had a new one on hand in a diff size, assuming he already knew what the problem was and didnt know how to fix it ::). piece of cake, i modified the pump clamps and such, cleaned out the bad gas, and assembled it all back together. we got some gas and tried to start it. motor cranked but wont start, guy said i can buy the title and may have to come back to pick it up and tow it home. I replied "Nah, it'll run, now start 'er up" several tries later, nothing. I got some gas and put it in the throttle body, went in the cab. apparently the guy took a closer look while i turned the key, flames popped up inches away from his nose {hihi}. didnt crank again, I asked him to go in the cab and turn the key while i messed with the throttle. finally brought the motor back from the dead, high fives all over! we switched out the tires and drove it straight home. it was hell without a heater, radio, muffler, cruise, and interior lights(i used a flashlight to see how fast i was going) but i gotta say, it ran strong til this morning, now it wont fire up. I guess God only gave me nuf juice to make it home  ;D

best 500 bucks I've spent

Nice! Lets see some pictures.  I followed a thread on another forum back about the "cash for clunkers" and I was amazed how many MJ's people saw in those lots.  Glad you brought it back to life

Hey Nick replace the throttle position sensor and set the voltage per the manual and it will prob fix the problem, my xj is doing the same thing right now and I know thats the problem. It will start when you spray starting fluid or spray paint  {hihi} in the intake hose. Also you can make it 4x4 really easy and cheap. Good purchase and price.  {toast}

Ps if you need a hand with anything just pm me im here in town.

ah yeah i definitely wont be making a mallcrawler out of it, its gonna be a soliders dream truck ;D

i already got the wheels, just need to strip the paint off of it so it shows black looking. paints gonna be easy since panels come off easily.
