More fee's in the works
« on: March 02, 2011, 04:29:40 PM »
Another proposed law some sportsmen may be interested in is HB 224, which would require registration of ATVs and all off-road vehicles used on public land, except for those used “exclusively for agricultural and construction purposes.” An exemption in the proposed law says it would not apply to a person “operating an off-road vehicle on property owned or leased by the operator or on private property with the permission of the owner or lessee of the property.” For use on public land, an off-road license plate would be required, with a registration fee not to exceed $30.

If they use those fees to maintain the property, and to keep it open, I have no problem with it...

Does not apply to licensed and tagged on-road vehicles that go off-road.

It's to generate revenue from those ATV's, UTV's etc that they don't currently have their hand in the pocket of.

I'm fine with it. They already do this in other areas like Colorado. At least if they can make some sort of revenue on offroad vehicles, they should be more likely to offer areas to ride.

I bet if you have a buggy or something that isn't licensed for the road, you would need one of these tags to operate on public land. Once again, I'm fine with that.

$30 is probably less than your tag fee/tax fee. ;D
