I see they have a rather extensive RV park. Anyone here familiar with it? Specifically is it (very) large motorhome friendly? Last time I went I remember overall the parking/public areas to be very dusty and muddy - is the RV section like that?

RV parking area is a lot nicer than the day parking for sure!

Thanks!

I want to make the trip, and it would be a fun night or two to take the motorhome and tow the Jeep. Other than driving it back from NY and parking it in the driveway, I haven't taken it anywhere. This seems like a great chance for my first mini RV trip, and get some wheeling in! Anyone else taking an RV?

I haven't been wheeling in almost a year! Last time was March 2011 at Gulches with GATR when I got caught in the tornado/hail storm. Well, a couple months later I met up with the Isuzu club for a day ride at Beasley Knob and the forest roads. Other than that the Jeep spent most of last year getting repairs and mods. Still no rocker protection so I won't be pushing it too much.

This is an open ride so you are welcome to join as is. If you can have a cb it would help a ton. We use this to keep in touch on the trail. Also, please make sure you have tow points on your rig (something other than just a bumper) to use as a tow point in case you get stuck. I would suggest those 2 things 1st.

Directions are below. Just be there on time (10 am) ready to ride @ 10:30. This is the best ride for you to learn the ins and outs of "Group Trail Riding". This way there will be guys to help point you in the right direction and spot you on the trails!

Durhamtown is 95% "Tier 1" trails - I would highly recommend that you try and make this ride if you are planning to go to other parks in the future!

PM me if you have any specific questions or concerns. We are leaving from Auburn/Dacula area around 8:00am if you want to join.   {cheers2}

Here are the details:

Our February ride will be at Durhamtown Plantation and is open to everyone that would like to ride.

Drivers meeting @ the Clubhouse Saturday at 10:30AM * BE READY TO RIDE!

You will need to arrive early and complete your registration, have your passes for the day, & be aired down by 10:30am

Sunday rides will be at your leisure.

CAMPING: TENT CAMPING/PRIMITIVE CAMPING

BATHHOUSE AVAILABLE AT THE MAIN CAMPGROUND AREA NEAR THE LODGE.

CABINS AVAILABLE

DIRECTIONS CLICK HERE: http://www.durhamtown.com/directions.htm

TRAIL RATING:

TIER 1 – Expedition: Rides that are based on a stock 4x4 chassis. Fun for the whole family. These rides will be a good way to introduce you and your vehicle to the sport. Get your feet wet and gain some experience behind the wheel off-roading.  These rides will not be challenging in anyway. Minimal/No damage expected.

TIER 2 – Intermediate: Rides that are open to all 4x4 vehicles. There will be challenges for stock to fully built rigs. Plenty of bypasses for lesser built vehicles. Some light damage/Broken parts can be expected, depending on how far you want to push your vehicle. You will have a chance to gain a lot of off-road experience on these rides.
