There are some places on there I am surprised to see and that includes my town of Smyrna. Some of them I would even advise to avoid based on personal experience.

I hear you, but Alpharetta really hasn't been that bad a place to live for the last 19 years.  ;-)

Technically now since the rezoning and creation of Johns Creek, I am in Johns Creek...until spring of 2019 and then I move to Cherokee County in Woodstock.

Storm really tore the SW GA power grid up.

EMCs in Georgia are now reporting ~177,000 members without power.

Unlike recent storms, #HurricaneMichael severely damaged transmission assets in addition to distribution assets. Crews are discovering catastrophic damage to the electric infrastructure—the likes of which has not been seen in decades.

There are multiple high voltage transmission lines down as well as 68 substations out of service. With this much damage to both the transmission and distribution system, EMCs warn of extensive delays in total restoration.

A couple of EMCs have lost their entire distribution network.

Several EMCs in South and Middle Georgia are reporting 90 percent of their accounts in the dark, including MItchell EMC (Camilla), Oconee EMC (Dudley), Little Ocmulgee EMC (Alamo) and Colquitt EMC (Moultrie). Excelsior EMC (Metter) is reporting 50 percent out. Another co-op in Southwest Georgia (don't know which one) has estimated 400 broken poles.

Peak EMC numbers are 210,000 w/out power and 100  substations out.

Still terrible.

But down to 150,000 EMC members w out power and 67 substations out

My company coordinates some of the restoration efforts. To summarize the latest reports tonight:
1.3M outages at 8p tonight.
Nuclear plants unaffected. Hundreds of transmission lines are out.  That is what will take time to restore.
Tens of thousands of workers flooding into the areas affected.
I would expect everyone back up within days.
