I was extremely happy to be able to wheel an entire day without needing to be towed back to the trailer. ;D Other than the leaking water hose on Friday it was a trouble-free trip for me. The only "fail" was not getting up the left side of the rock pile; Skip told me the "secret" on Saturday evening before the raffle -- need to bump it early so that the right rear tire gets on the rock before settling in the dirt hole. Thanks a lot to gint2 for taking pics of me trying it; it's nice to see later what you can't see when driving.
While I didn't try anything really hard like 3D, I did enjoy getting seat time in the ravines, the rock pile, and shipwreck. For you guys who haven't experienced it, driving on off-camber stuff with a 3-link/4-link suspension makes it so much "straighter". When following Jeeps on heartbreaker I would see them leaned way over, and then I'd hardly feel tilted at all on the same spot. Almost like cheating. As opposed to be being leaned over almost too far riding with Randy on heartbreaker. That was as close to a flop as I've ever been.
Great trip and I'm looking forward to Windrock; I haven't been there for a couple of years.
The other thing I learned was that winching someone in an auto transmission vehicle is a lot easier than with a stick. With the tranny in park, the Jeep was rock solid even when pulling the Chevy through some little trees and brush. On my old Jeep, I'd need to stand on the brakes.
