Thank you President Trump. I am getting an additional $37 a check thanks to the tax break. Curious to hear what others are going to be getting on their checks. No need for political mumbo jumbo here... just good news.
-
$43 more per check.
-
That is awesome.

Nice. I hope mine drops eventually. I get paid 24 time more times this year....that'd be nice to get back.

So far, my last check was $54 more than my typical byweekly. Was under the impression that our payroll company was not rolling out the changes until middle of February. So I'll keep updated if anything changes. (But, an extra $100 a month. I'll take it!!!!)

I don't get a paycheck, but investments are up 6+% in January.

I'm currently getting about 136 per pay check more than i did this time last year, .. . generally u have to wait till u hit the SS cap to get boost. this is also with our insurance costs going up (told that last year we would be paying a bit more on our side). and im still getting more $ in my check.

And that is purely tax break, no increase in salary?

I have heard stories, fables if you will, of men volunteering to go grocery shopping, even for little things (such as a gallon of milk), at the spur of the moment, and the cash register at the shopping locations rewarding the men with extra cash upon providing a receipt (which is to be disposed of so your great effort is not put in front of your wife's face). Some men consider it rude to share the cash rewards with their wife, and squirrel it away for other purposes.
Sure, $24.37 for a gallon of milk seems expensive, but quick, gripe-free service apparently doesn't come cheap.

Young Grasshopper, your first mistake is letting your wife handle the finances... ;-)

Clarke is right. My wife handles the bills but I always buy the groceries because I'm the cook. I think my time is valuable, so I'm compensated for it.

That's awesome, and I agree it can be a hassle. All I can say is I am a die-hard fan of Quicken, been using it forever and makes it easy while traveling.
All in good fun...

I use it synced with Bank of America and Chase. Super easy and convenient. Budget out 6 months.

I use excel, and budget out two years the December before the next year, so it dwindles down to 12 months of projection, eventually.
I don't link very many things to my bank account. Are there ways to set up the linkage between quicken and the bank to be "read only"?, or does the size of quicken's user base give them special treatment by the banks?

Interesting wording...you're comparing last year to this year (YoY) for the same pay date, but I have to believe your annual raise from 2017 is included in your check for this year. Nice trickery.

Quicken has been around so long it is a de facto standard across most financial institutions and just about everyone supports it. There is a quicken web connect format that is used and you establish a secure web connection with your bank accounts, credit cards, mortgage, etrade, etc. Anything, each institution may have different requirements for 2-factor authentication, etc. It just synchronizes the information and allows you to manage and monitor everything in one place. You can use Quicken bill pay or the service through your bank for online bill pay.

raise and bonus dont hit till mid march. but yes see where i made that wording mistake. i took my % raise into account and removed it. should have mentioned that. what i did fail to do was take into account the adjustment to some of my election coverages (mishap on my part) after adjusting 2 dedutions that i dont take anymore. im only up $92 per pay check. my bad

I would like to add that this is the 1st year my insurance rates have not gone up like they have in the past 6-7 years and they actually have started going down but only a few cents.

indeed
Take that burden off the lovely lady. She shouldn't have to dirty her hands with the tedious tasks of bill paying and what not.

Final question: paid weekly, semi-monthly, biweekly, monthly, semiannually, or annually?

No worries @kent10sne1 you don't handle the finances so we know the math can be difficult. ;-)

don't you pay income tax on SS?
Not past full retirement age (66). If you take SS at 62-65 then you're taxed on half the amount for any wages earned. E.g., earn $1000, $500 of SS is taxable income. But I never had W2 income anyway past 62 so for me it was moot.

Is Gint (AJ) your agent? If not I highly recommend at least getting a auto & home quote.

As part of my tax return preparation for this year, my CPA used 2017 numbers against the new tax reform act for 2018. My tax liability for the year would be reduced by 21%. Instead of stroking a check to Uncle Sam for $15k like I am doing this year, it would be about $900 of tax owed.
