ISO 1970's mail/postal jeep (DJ)
« on: October 29, 2014, 05:00:31 PM »
As I build my TJ, I'm in no rush but wanted to put the feelers out. I'm looking for a 1970's ISH mail/postal jeep (DJ). I have an idea for a build kind of like the picture Will posted/the link/build thread Scott posted in the 'cool pictures' thread (http://www.gatrailriders.com/GTRForums/index.php?topic=9229.636). I'm looking for a body and frame (as rust free as possible). I don't care about much else as it will be replaced. I'm hoping to find one for under $1k.

Same "Going Postal" thread is on pirate... just got caught up during lunch today :)

Definitely looked rough, but there is a postal jeep parked a few miles outside the gulches park entrance. Maybe Skip has a lead on it. Anyone hear remember his username and can tag him?

Thanks Patrick. I'll have to check that out. I'd like to find something closer if possible but I would be willing to travel if necessary.

There was an 80 something mail jeep on FB yesterday. I tried to add you to the group and tag you in the post but I can't find it today. It looked like a CJ with a square mail Jeep body on it.

Thanks Will. I'll see if I can find it. I do have a line on one that may pan out! We'll see...

Good news! I found a guy who retired from the postal service a few years back. He had bought two postal jeeps and had some miscellaneous parts to a third. Unfortunately he wouldn't just sell me one so I now have two postal jeeps, a motor, transmission, and frame for a third. I'm only interested in keeping one jeep, and will be selling the rest. Now to finish my white jeep so I can get cracking on my postal jeep.

As requested, here are a few pictures. The first 3 pics are of the one I will be selling. The last picture is of the one I will be keeping.
