A couple friends and I are headed up to Amicalola Sate Park. We plan on taking the same route as the one we did the end of Jan. Planned on camping out up there on top of the mountain. I know the spots seemed limited up top but we have 3 people going. We plan on going 3/28 and leavin early Sunday morning. Some beer drinkin and horeshoe throwing. Let me know if you are in. See you up there!

Question? Where we were riding and the campsites we passed. Are those free? or do we pay? Because going up I never saw a place to pay. We just passed the church and off we went up the mountain. Thanks
-
I think up that way they are free and first come first serve but I am not 100% sure...
-
yup. Check the fire bans b4 you go. Sometimes they are up.
-
There free when are you guys going.
-
that sounds fun and yeah they are free. are you talking about camping at that dead end we came to where the old fire tower used to be where there is nothing but cement blocks now?
-
Yea up at the very top. Right where RamIt rammed one of those blocks. I figured those were camping spots. Are we allowed to camp there?
-
i dont see why not.. no one ever goes up there. but i dont think that spot is a designated camping spot where you are allowed to start a fire but other than that i dont see why not. i would check first but i doubt you would run into anyone even if you did have a fire up there.

There are a ton of sites that are "not deignated" I camp up there all the time. No worries.

I ended up going this past weekend. Lots of fun. We camped right up top and met lots of people hiking the trail. Even had some decide to Camp the next spot over and party with us. I did see two Jeeps coming up but we were hiking down to get my buddy who's truck couldnt make it up. I didnt get a chance to talk to them because they were gone by the time we got back.

Where in that area can you not get a pickup to? Could you by chance find it on google, or GPS?
-
He had a 2wd Frontier. When you get to the airplane crash site from 2FS road 28-1 take the trail up. Its not hard at all but I wasn't going to tell my friend to come up and get stuck. A stock Jeep Wrangler could do it Im sure. Just take the right lines.
